American Association of Community Theatre upcoming events

• AACT New York Convention July 10-15, New York City.
• OK Community Theatre Assoc. OCTAFest 2010, July 11-15, Tonkawa
• CO Community Theatre Coalition Festival 2012, Aug. 1-4, Salida
• AACT Education Directors Conference, Aug. 17-19, Grand Rapids, MI

AACT has extended the deadline  to apply to produce a winning play from AACTNewPlayFest to August 1. AACT will select 5-10 member theatres to produce the winning plays. Theatres will be responsible for providing a fully realized production between June 2013 and December 2014 and for bringing in the playwright for a rehearsal or a performance. Theatres will reap these benefits:

• – premiere a national award-winning play
• – national publicity
• – prestige of being selected for a national program
• – working directly with the playwright
• – introducing the playwright to the community

Theatres will be selected in August 2012.
